Reports to:Glasgow Hawks Director of Rugby
Salary:£20,000
Purpose of Job
To create a thriving development structure within the Club that ensures it is at the centre of sustainable rugby development in the community.

Key Accountabilities
• Develop a performance environment within the Hawks youth structure which compliments school activity
• Strengthen Under 18 participation as a means of strengthening the transition to club rugby
• Increase playing participation in clubs (Hawks Youth, GHK Minis, GA Minis)
• Drive the implementation of club development plan
• Work in partnership with a range of agencies to raise the profile of rugby in the local community
• Deliver high quality coaching sessions and updates within the club and associated cluster schools and community groups
• Organise and facilitate opportunities for developing club coaches
• Recruitment, retain, reward and develop all club(s) volunteers
Key Performance Areas
Implementation of Club Development Plan
• Work with club volunteers to continuously improve the development plan and ensure links to regional development strategy and other national, regional and local strategies for sport/health improvement/social objectives.
• Responsible for the delivery of the club development plan.
• Ensure club understanding and ownership of plan.
• Identify and secure funding opportunities to assist in the delivery of club development plan.
Increase Participation
• Ensure links to local cluster primary and secondary schools to create/extend opportunities to play rugby through inclusive programmes for girls and boys and men and women.
• Organise, coordinate and deliver programmes and events/festivals to promote rugby and recruit young people to the game.
• Support the development of the Women’s rugby in the region.
• Plan and implement player development programmes through the clubs to increase player enjoyment and improve playing standards
Partnership Working
• Work with School and Youth Development Manager to ensure club development plan is linked to Regional Development Plan and where appropriate represent club on any local development groups.
• Work with Active School Coordinators and PE staff to ensure a strong pathway between local primary and secondary schools and club(s).
• Work with other LA staff and any other stakeholders who can support the club(s) to deliver their plan e.g. sports development, tertiary education.
• Work with Performance Development Manager on the identification and development of club(s) players with potential.
Volunteer Development
• Recruit, sustain, support and develop volunteers in all aspects of the club
Coaching
• Deliver high quality coaching sessions in club(s), associated cluster schools and community groups.
• Support club(s) coaches and referees by organising and facilitating coach and referee education and development opportunities.
• Identify and access coach scholarship opportunities
Monitoring and Evaluation, Marketing and Communication
• Record baseline data on club(s) and school participation.
• Report progress against club development plan key performance indicators.
• Prepare newsletters and other marketing and promotional material.
• Ensure effective links with local press to increase club profile in community.

Essential Qualifications and Attainments
• UKCC Level 1 Rugby Union
• Driving Licence
Desirable Qualifications and Attainments
• UKCC Level 2 Rugby Union
• Sports related degree/qualification
• Access to transport
• Referees level 1 Qualification
• First aid certificate
Experience & knowledge (in an employed or voluntary capacity)
• Coaching rugby across a wide variety of age bands and groups
• Experience of working effectively with partners
• Experience and knowledge of working with volunteers
• Knowledge and understanding of issues effecting rugby clubs
• Knowledge and understanding of sports development pathways (LTPD)
• Experience of working in a sports development environment
• Knowledge of national sporting/physical activity initiatives & strategies
• Knowledge and understanding of rugby development pathways
