It is with great sadness that I have to inform you that Ian MacGregor, a man who had a big influence on many rugby mad pupils at the Academy, has sadly passed away in Crosshouse Hospital.
Ian was a man with a real passion for rugby, who was capped nine times in the 50's at wing forward, when he was playing for Hillhead HSFP then Llanelli.whilst with the RAF
However it was while he was involved with Accies that he was asked to joined the SRU committee in 1975. He was manager of Scotland's touring team in
Australia in 1982, convener of the selection committee in the Grand Slam season two years later, and, eventually chaired the laws and coaching committees
Ian was a committed and enthusiastic master at the Academy and was responsible for many successful 1st XV's. His enthusiasm was passed onto his two sons Calum and Graeme who formed a formidable half back partnership for Accies,
Calum then played in the Hawks team who won a league and cup double in 1998
Our thoughts and go out to Calum ,Graeme.and the family at this time
