I remember him fondly when he coached Accies during the early 1990’s
Invited by Brian Simmers to coach us
He was a source of immense knowledge about the game of rugby and it was only in hindsight that I realised how much he passed on whilst coaching us on those dark wet nights on the Nee Anniesland Curling pond
Well known by the players for his inability to dip his hand in his pocket for a beer ( I say that with humour)
We appreciated that this guy would travel all the way from Inverness to coach us
Always a quiet and unassuming manner with a rare insight into how we should play
He still owes the team for an end of season round in Ashton Lane where he joined the squad for a rare night out before heading back to Inverness
Despite that his humour and desire to make us all improve as players did not go unnoticed
His time at Anniesland will be remembered fondly by those of us that had the pleasure to be coached by him
