Marr: Aidan Cross and Alex Brydon from the Glasgow Warriors Academy join the backline while a few regulars return.
Glasgow Hawks: In the forwards, Kyle Shanahan and Fraser Muir swap roles this week, while JP Thomson and Ryan Howie come into the back-row. In the backs, Brent Jackson, the Glasgow Warriors Academy player, will start at nine and Harry Provan is on the wing, with Scott Steele and Ryan Flett sustaining injuries last week, while Finlay Callaghan comes in for Ben Morriss who is unavailable. Campbell Waugh comes in at 13. On the bench, Tobi Sofidaya will look to make his first appearance of the season, while Scotland under-20 cap Andy McLean is on the bench after returning to Hawks earlier in the week.
What the coaches say –
“We have a few new faces from the Warriors joining us this week and we are really excited to see them in action in the purple and gold. We were all really disappointed in our showing last week so have worked hard to right those wrongs. Andy and Tam [Hill and Davidson, the Hawks coaches] will have their troops firing and ready, as they will be just as disappointed with their game last week. We look forward to the task ahead and boys are keen to get out in front of our great crowd and show exactly what we made of …” – Kenny Diffenthal (Marr)
“Neither side got the result or performance they were looking for last week. With Marr’s home support they are always a formidable opponent at Fullarton. We know we need to turn up and put together a performance we know we are capable of to be in the fight …” – Andy Hill (Glasgow Hawks)
Verdict: Both teams were on the wrong end of poor results in the Borders last weekend and both teams have had a freshen up for various reasons. It will be interesting to see Alex Brydon and Brent Jackson getting run-outs for the respective teams in a game we predict Marr to get on the front foot in.
